Environmental, Health and Safety
The Environmental, Health and Safety office ensures that Clark County Department of Aviation facilities are safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible in order to meet the needs of the traveling public and our airport partners.
Safety
The mission of the Clark County Department of Aviation is to provide a safe and healthy work environment for our employees and to ensure the safety and health of our customers. Every employee has a responsibility to work safely and follow the rules of the Clark County Department of Aviation Safety and Health Program. Assistant Directors and supervisors are charged with maintaining a high level of safety at all times in every area. These responsibilities must never be compromised.
Employees must report all hazards and alert their supervisors to any condition that could jeopardize the safety or health of co-workers or customers. Employees and supervisors should contact the DOA Safety Section for assistance in resolving safety and health problems.
Airport Safety Management System (SMS)
The Airport SMS is a special safety program that applies specifically to all areas within the LAS airside as defined by the LAS Airport Security Plan (ASP). The LAS airside includes all secured areas inside the airport perimeter as established by fences, buildings, and controlled access points. Within this perimeter, and of particular concern to SMS, are the Movement and Non-Movement Areas.
Environmental Management System (EMS)
The Environmental Management System contains the most recent internationally accepted practices and procedures for identifying and managing environmental impacts. The EMS provides guidance for managing any daily obligations, risk assessment, environmental impacts, and incident and hazard reporting, including staff and tenant training throughout all Clark County Department of Aviation facilities.
Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP)
The goal of a SWPPP is to prevent the discharge of pollutants associated with site activities from entering the storm drain system during rain storm events. SWPPPs require airport authorities to identify and implement schedules of activities, prohibitions of practices, maintenance procedures, and other best management practices (BMPs) to eliminate, prevent, or reduce pollutants in storm water runoff from their sites.
Spill Prevention Control & Countermeasures (SPCC)
Risk Management
The Risk Management Division serves to protect our customers, personnel, tenants, airline partners and physical assets of the Clark County Department of Aviation from injury and loss. Risk Management manages the Clark County Department of Aviation's insurance and loss control programs, including property insurance, general/auto liability, cyber insurance, environmental insurance, employment practices, as well as a construction wrap program. This division is responsible for providing oversight of claims administration, procurement of required insurance coverage and the development, coordination and implementation of safety and loss-prevention programs.
